During the first half of the XIX century, Strassoldo
Palace‘s rooms housed the last of France’s
Royal Bourbons and their entourage, many distinguished
names that accompanied that period’s history. Today,
every room and flat recall the name of one of the august guests
or of their dignitaries, who come to life again in the present
atmosphere, making new patrons’ sojourn more intriguing.

The
suites and most of the rooms
display Biedermeier style
furnishings. A sophisticated and timeless style, it goes back
to the 1815-45 peace period. A few rooms, instead, contain
some authentic, ancient pieces of furniture, the result of
a patient research and loving restoration work. The rooms’
atmosphere conveys a remote and luminous order, which, at
the same time, is comfortable, functional, elegant. The walls’
gentle colours are the background to the at times sprightly
curtains and tapestries, and to prints depicting landscapes,
interiors, maps.
Patrons are welcomed to an exclusive environment which matches
the aura of an ancient palace of the XVIII century and the
XXI century’s comforts. A rational and efficient use
of power resources commended the employment of suffused lighting.
Thus mostly energy-saving lamps are used, reproposing a fairy-tale
like, welcoming and warm ambience.

The cherry and oak wood used
for making the furniture comes from selective tree-cutting
in controlled repopulation woods, the panels employed comply
with E1 European regulations
on low formaldehyde emissions. The so delicately thin, special
Biedermeier series stripes, recalling filigree, are made
of maple and walnut; drawers display dovetail joints, wooden
nails witness our handicraft passion.
